Introduction To Bangkok

Bangkok is the largest urban area in Thailand and is also the nation’s capital. It is an extremely modern city and is considered to be highly influential to all of Asia in politics, education, diplomacy, the arts, fashion and entertainment. They’re known as the global city because of their influence in these areas and for being a major center in business and finance. This is one of the largest cities in the world and is extremely travel friendly and safe for it’s size.

Bangkok is also known as the “Venice of the East” because of the Chao Phraya River. This river runs for 231 miles and creates many canals, passages and river deltas along its path. It is well worth the time to take a river sightseeing trip while in the area.

You’ll have plenty to do in the urban areas of Bangkok. There are many museums, public monuments, zoos and amusement parks. There are also plenty of theatres and traditional cultural performances. If you’d like to do some shopping, be sure to check out the Chatachuk Weekend Market and the Suan Lum Night Bazaar. Thai cuisine is quite diverse and affordable, though the city also has many places to get all types of international foods. Bangkok is also known to have a thriving and exciting nightlife.

Along with the bustling city areas, there are large green zones and other natural areas preserved by the country’s Department of National Forestry. Some of the green zones are located within the city’s center. There is a large park within the middle of the city comparable to New York’s Central Park. Many traditional Thai ceremonies and pageants are held there. There are also two other parks within the city that have beautiful botanic gardens, sports clubs and large lakes and ponds.
