Introduction To Kathmandu

Kathmandu is the largest city of Nepal and stands as a hub of crossroads that connects Nepal with other cities within the region. For many tourists it is the first stop when they visit the country.

One of the most famous landmarks in Kathmandu is Hanuman Dhoka (also known as Durbar Square) – it is lined with beautiful palaces, courtyards and temples. It was build between the 12th and 18th century by the ancient Malla Kings. The temples that you can find on this location are Taleju Temple, Kal Bhairab, Nautalle Dubar, Coronation Nasal Chowk and the Gaddi Baithak.

Another sight worth exploring is Swayambhunath Stupa – a Buddhist temple known as the monkey temple located on the top of a hill and considered one of the most holy places in Nepal. One of the most popular tourist spots is Balaju Water Garden – with exotic plants and a bank with 22 stone waterspouts that are carved into the shape of sea dragons. The garden also has fishponds, religious shrines, and a statute of Budanikantha.
