Introduction To Tokyo
Tokyo is Japan’s largest city with 12 million people in it and 35 million people within the greater Tokyo area. Here you’ll find a subtropical climate with hot summers and mild winters. Centuries ago, it began as a small fishing village named Edo. Tokyo is divided into many different smaller cities, districts, villages and islands. The volcanic islands of Izu are within one of the cities three National Parks. The Ogasawara Islands are also within a National Park. The third National park includes Mount Takao and the lands around it. Along with the busy city area and the National Parks, there are also plenty of forests, farmland and mountainous communities.
This city has the largest metropolitan economy in the world and is considered one of the three “command centers” of the financial world that also include London and New York. The main type of transportation around the city is their Urban Railway, though they also have subways, trains, buses and taxi services. You’ll enjoy all the modern conveniences of the big city with a local cultural flavor as well as their many museums and top-notch restaurants. They have several orchestras that play traditional Japanese and Western style music and many performing arts centers that perform traditional as well as modern dramas.
