Pune, India is the second largest city in the south-western Indian state of Maharashtra. Located on the rain shadow region east of the India’s natural south-western peninsular barrier, the mountain range called the Western Ghats, Pune is at an altitude of 560 meters above sea level. With a more than 600-year history, Pune is the cultural capital of Maharashtra unlike the political capital Mumbai. Nowadays, Pune is known for its massive industrialization particularly in the automobile and IT sectors.
