Introduction To Darjeeling

Along with its scenic areas and tea plantations, Darjeeling is home to the Padmaja Naidu Himalyan Zoological Park, which is the only zoo in India that has a conservation and breeding program to save endangered Himalayan species.

Darjeeling is an incredibly culturally diverse area and includes a large Tibetan population due to an influx of refugees from the 1950’s. It has also seen significant growth since the 1970’s. Music is incredibly important in area culture and tradition and includes many different musical styles for both traditional and modern tastes. It is considered the musical center of India and attracts many musicians and musical aficionados. It is also the center of Nepal’s rock music scene.
