Introduction To Zanzibar

The island of Zanzibar is a wonderful place to relax and unwind, while enjoying the peace and quiet in the lush tropical setting. It is no wonder it is so popular with the honeymooners. Zanzibar is located about 15-30 miles off of the coast of Tanzania in the Indian Ocean. It is made up from a number of small islands but two main islands are Unguja and Pema. There are numerous trails and national parks scattered all over the island that can explored during certain parts of the year.

The capital of Zanzibar is Stone Town (it is located on the island of Unguja and it has recently made the UNESCO World’s Heritage list). It is very popular tourist spot. You can explore the Slave’s Market for a small admission – it is an interesting experience to say the least. You can spend a leisurely afternoon exploring the sights as Stone Town but do make sure to keep hydrated, as it can get very hot. If you fancy lounging on the beach head to the East Beaches – the water is clear, the sand is so white it will hurt your eyes and you can enjoy a spot of scuba diving too.

When you get peckish you can enjoy some tasty local fare in one of the restaurants dotted all over the island or you can pay a visit to the Forodhani Market where you can find tasty meals for bargain prices.
