Introduction To Casablanca

Casablanca is not considered one of Morocco’s major tourist attraction. It is the largest city in Morocco with population of just over 4 million and the cultural and economical center but fact of the matter is many tourists will head elsewhere (mainly Fes or Marrakesh) to enjoy the local culture rather then stay in Casablanca.

Old Medina is where you will find what remains of the traditional walled town of the old. It is in this area that you will find a number of shops selling Moroccan goods but these are specifically aimed for the tourists and the prices and quality reflect that. Another place worth exploring is the King Hassan II Mosque which is the third largest mosque in the world and it does have some beautiful interiors.

Corniche neighborhood is located on the ocean and it has been completely westernized with great number of hotels, fast food outlets and cafes.

Once you get peckish there are plenty of restaurants in Casablanca however the locals do not eat early in fact great number of restaurants do not open until at least 7:00pm so bare that in mind if you get hungry.
